The concept/term of “Dumbing-Down” refers to the decline in creativity and innovation, a degradation of artistic, cultural, and intellectual standards, or the undermining of the very idea of a standard.
It is based on a trinity of: the Compulsory Educational System, Mass Media/Marketing and the Petrochemical / Pharmaceutical Industries that provide the pesticides, chemical additives and drugs that inundate our food, water, medicines and thus, bodies.
While the term often depends upon the values of individuals of specific groups, Pierre Bourdieu illustrated how the practices of dominant groups in society (religions, governments, corporations, etc.) are legitimized to the disadvantage of subordinate groups (the masses).
